Tip #17: Sonohysterogram

This ultrasound photo demonstrates a normal uterine cavity filled with fluid.

During a sonohysterogram, an in office procedure, a small catheter is placed inside the uterus and then the uterus is distended with fluid. Without placing fluid inside the cavity, the uterine walls are touching, making it difficult to visualize any intracavity abnormality (e.g., polyp).
